Bushnell: Precision optical instruments
Bushnell has been making quality consumer optical instruments since
1947. Whether it's binoculars, a telescope or spotting scope, Bushnell
products deliver excellent value and current technology at an affordable
price.
Bushnell is superbly attentive to the needs of its customers. Within its
binocular product line, there are subgroups with features to meet the
needs of specific users, for example bird watchers and sporting event
attendees. For birders, the binoculars have large diameter apertures and
good magnification to assure bright, clear, high-contrast images at
longer distances. The ability to focus close up is important to bird
watchers -- some models will let you get as close as 3 feet, so you
won't miss a single feather on that rare avian. For sporting events, a
wide field of view and ease of focus are paramount. The preset permanent
focus feature means you'll never miss the action because the field
glasses weren't in focus. Wide field of views mean you'll be able to
follow the action easily up and down the field of play.
Telescopes from Bushnell are feature-packed and value priced. Whether
you're looking for a refractor or reflector, you're sure to find it in
the product line. Best for viewing near-space objects, refractors have
yoke mounts, vertical stabilizer bars, erecting lens and finder scopes.
Other features include accurate rack and pinion focusing mechanisms,
metal mounting systems (equatorial and yoke), adjustable tripods and
premium-quality coated optics. If it's deep space objects like nebulas
and galaxies you want to study, a reflector is the type of telescope to
choose. Reflector telescopes can gather more light and have features
like are clock drive-ready mounts, fine tracking controls, camera
adaptability and 1.25" eyepiece format. With a one of these telescopes,
you'll soon be exploring the night sky.
A spotting scope is actually a telescope for terrestrial, not celestial
viewing. The refractor-type spotting scope has limited uses because of
physical limits on the size of the objective that can be made. 100mm is
the usual limit, making this kind of scope perfect for birding or
hunting.
Catadioptic scopes use a combination of lenses and mirrors that make the
effective viewing range of the device greater than that of a refractor.
These instruments perform better over longer distances and are well
suited to surveillance and telephotography.
